Important Safety Information Regarding Older Emmaljunga Strollers
A stroller is a safety product for children. To ensure it can be used safely, it must be inspected, maintained, and serviced regularly. All materials and components are affected over time by load, wear and tear, aging, and external factors such as moisture, temperature fluctuations, UV light, salt, and other environmental impacts. Lack of maintenance, skipped servicing, or the use of worn parts can compromise the stroller's safety features.
Regarding Older and Second-hand "Vintage" Strollers
Older strollers are often designed according to outdated technical solutions and do not necessarily meet today’s safety standards. The current European standard for strollers is SS-EN 1888-1:2018+A1:2022, with supplementary sub-standards depending on the product type. When purchasing or using an older or second-hand stroller, it is therefore important to be aware that the safety level may differ from modern requirements.
Although many of our products are built for a long lifespan, we strongly advise against using older "vintage" strollers for transporting children. After many years of use, it is impossible to guarantee that the stroller's safety functions still meet today’s safety expectations.
Always Follow the Service and Maintenance Plan in the Manual
To extend the stroller's lifespan and maintain its functionality, regular service at an authorized dealer or workshop is required, as well as the replacement of wear parts when necessary. Always save documentation of performed service and maintenance. Service and maintenance instructions can be found in the manual that accompanied the stroller.
A list of authorized dealers and workshops within the EU can be found here
Strollers Up to 10 Years Old
To ensure the stroller can be used safely over time, we recommend that service be performed once a year for the first 10 years by an authorized dealer or workshop. If documentation of such service is missing, the stroller's safety functions may be impaired or may have completely or partially ceased to function as intended.
Strollers Older Than 10 Years
After 10 years of use, Emmaljunga recommends continued use only if the stroller has been serviced regularly by an authorized dealer, inspected thoroughly, and had worn or aged parts replaced as needed. Without documented service history and a technical inspection, it cannot be guaranteed that the stroller's safety functions still perform as intended.
Strollers Older Than 20 Years
After 20 years, Emmaljunga strongly advises against continued use. A stroller of this age may have aged materials, hidden wear, corrosion, fatigue in load-bearing parts, and other safety deficiencies that are not always visible from the outside.
Spare Parts and Service
The availability of spare parts for older products may be limited. If correct service, technical inspection, or necessary spare parts can no longer be provided, the stroller should not be used for transporting children.
